Das Baška-Gebiet im Südosten der Insel ist in mancher Hinsicht außergewöhnlich. Als wir von Puntarska Draga bergauf steigen und die Hänge von Treskavac auf etwa 330 m mit den höchsten Gipfeln der Insel (Obzova, etwa 570 m) überqueren und uns plötzlich und abrupt vor dem Baška-Tal befinden, sind wir fast überrascht außer Atem. Denn auf so ein Naturspiel, eine Kombination aus Bergen und Meer, waren wir nicht vorbereitet. Genau hier wurde um 1100 der Taufschein der Kroaten – die Tafel von Baška – geschrieben. Baška ist auch an einem der größten und schönsten Kiesstrände an der Adria mit einer halbkreisförmigen Länge von mehr als 1.800 Metern zu erkennen. Von Natur aus feiner Sand lässt vor allem Nichtschwimmer und Kinder den Strand genießen, da die Meerestiefe allmählich zunimmt. Wie an anderen Orten in Krk gibt es im alten Teil dieses Ortes enge Gassen, Häuser dicht beieinander, so dass die Atmosphäre typisch mediterran ist. Abgesehen von dem schönen Strand ist Baška für seine charakteristische Architektur, zahlreiche kulturelle und historische Denkmäler und die umliegenden Ausflugspfade interessant. Der lange und schöne Strand von Baška, ausgestattet mit zahlreichen Freizeitmöglichkeiten, ist einer der wichtigsten Gründe für einen Besuch; Die Schönheit des Ortes, durch den Sie gehen werden, ist auch wie das Lesen eines Lehrbuchs der Küstenarchitektur. Kada se od puntarske drage penjemo uzbrdo i na oko 330 m prelazimo obronke Treskavca, s najvišim vrhovima otoka (Obzova, oko 570 m) pa se sasvim iznenada i naglo nađemo pred bašćanskom kotlinom, ostajemo zatečeni, gotovo bez daha. Jer, nismo bili pripremljeni na baš takvu igru prirode, spoj planina i mora.
Upravo ovdje, oko 1100. godine nastaje krsni list Hrvata - Bašćanska ploča. Baška je prepoznatljiva i po jednoj od najvećih i najljepših šljunčanih plaža na Jadranu, dužine u polukrugu više od 1 800 metara. Prirodno fini pijesak posebice omogućuje neplivačima i djeci uživanje na plaži, jer se dubina mora postupno povećava.
Poput ostalih krčkih mjesta, i u starom dijelu ovoga su mjesta uske uličice, kuće blizu jedna drugoj tako da je ugođaj tipičan mediteranski.
Osim prekrasne plaže, Baška je zanimljiva po svojoj karakterističnoj arhitekturi, brojnim kulturnopovijesnim spomenicima te po okolnim izletničkim stazama.
Dugačka i prelijepa Bašćanska plaža, opremljena brojnim mogućnostima razonode, jedan je od važnijih razloga za dolazak; ljepota mjesta kroz koje ćete šetati kao da čitate udžbenik primorske arhitekture, također. La zona di Baška nel sud-est dell'isola è per certi versi eccezionale. Quando saliamo da Puntarska Draga e attraversiamo le pendici del Treskavac a circa 330 m, con le cime più alte dell'isola (Obzova, circa 570 m) e ci troviamo improvvisamente e bruscamente davanti alla valle di Baška, rimaniamo sorpresi, quasi senza fiato. Perché non eravamo preparati per un simile gioco della natura, una combinazione di montagne e mare. Proprio qui, intorno al 1100, fu scritto il certificato di battesimo dei croati - tavoletta di Baška. Baška è anche riconoscibile da una delle spiagge di ciottoli più grandi e belle dell'Adriatico, con una lunghezza semicircolare di oltre 1.800 metri.
