Location: Castello, Venice
The Castello district, the largest and among the oldest in Venice, is located at the eastern end of the city. Always one of the most densely populated districts of the city, it has maintained the traditional 'Venetian way of life' intact. Among the numerous monuments and works of art, we cannot fail to mention the Arsenale, for centuries the cradle of the power of the Serenissima, the Basilica of Sts. John and Paul, one of the best loved by Venetians, of S. Francesco in Vigna, of S. Maria Formosa. The Church of the Greeks, which is only a few steps away from the flat, is located on the boundary between the Castello and San Marco districts. In this way the property is in a privileged position both to reach the most famous monuments such as the Piazza or the Rialto Bridge, and to enter the less frequented but equally emblematic corners of the city.Leaving the iconic St. Mark's Square behind, we make our way towards the sumptuous church of San Giorgio dei Greci and on our way we cannot help but stop and admire the fascinating Palazzo Priuli, which, with its elegant four-light and double lancet windows, once framed by Palma il Vecchio's frescoes, is a true jewel among Venice's period residences. We stop to admire the splendid 14th-century façade, the four-light windows and the two characteristic corner mullioned windows with wrought-iron parapet.Once through the entrance door, we walk up the marble staircase illuminated by a striking bow window and, having reached the third floor, we are welcomed into the large living room flooded with natural light from the three-mullioned window in leaded glass. On the left of the central hall there is a spacious living room with a marble fireplace and gothic corner windows from which there is a marvellous view of the Church of the Greeks and the river below.Serving the living area we find an equipped kitchen and a windowed bathroom. On the right of the entrance hall we access the sleeping area composed of two comfortable double bedrooms overlooking the Fondamenta dell'Osmarin. This is followed by a large eat-in kitchen with an open view over the roofs of Venice and St. Mark's Bell Tower, a second windowed bathroom and a convenient storage room. The property is completed by a useful mezzanine on the second floor, consisting of a small room and a bathroom, and an exclusive storage room on the ground floor. The proximity to St. Mark's Square and its Rive, the typically Venetian context and prestigious features such as the high ceilings and terrazzo floors lend great charm to this dwelling.
