On September 26, 1895, by government decree, led by the Regenerator Party, the municipality of Cadaval was extinguished and its parishes were annexed to the neighboring municipalities. In due course, in the previous month, on August 27, a fire had destroyed the premises of the Municipality of Cadaval. However, the people demonstrated against the extinction of the municipality and a commission was formed, made up of the most important men of the village, for its restoration. This commission and the people of Cadaval were against the government party that had extinguished the municipality.
In 1897, the Progressive Party came to power. Probably as a result of this political change, the municipality was restored on January 13, 1898. A Municipal Administrative Commission was then formed, made up of some of the men who had fought for its restoration.

Oportunamente, no mês anterior, em 27 de Agosto, um incêndio tinha destruído as instalações da Câmara Municipal do Cadaval. Porém, o povo manifestou-se contra a extinção do concelho e foi formada uma comissão, constituída pelos mais importantes homens da vila, para a sua restauração. Esta comissão e o povo do Cadaval estavam contra o partido do governo que tinha extinto o concelho.
Em 1897, sobe ao poder o Partido Progressista. Provavelmente na sequência desta mudança política, foi o concelho restaurado em 13 de Janeiro de 1898. Formou-se, então, uma Comissão Municipal Administrativa, constituída por alguns dos homens que tinham lutado pela sua restauração.
